ABOUT US

Each individual’s unique genius and limitations for participating in life are available by bringing close attention into the present moment and to what is happening. Cultivating this ability of mindful attention to self and other in the present moment is central to GESTALT THERAPY.  Originating as an approach to individual psychotherapy, Gestalt therapy has evolved into a sophisticated theory and system of therapeutic interventions which are being applied with individuals of all ages, couples, families, groups and organizations, and even multi-national meetings.

Since 1975 the non-profit Gestalt Institute has been providing training to psychotherapy professionals in the Phoenix community and nationally. Over the years we have seen the timid and unsure blossom into confident self-assured therapists. We believe this is because our training is hands-on and experiential, teaching those skills most needed to do therapy.

Our GESTALT TRAINING includes the 300-hour certification program, our Summer Residential retreat, and other professional training for those interested in adding some Gestalt skills or those wanting to become skilled Gestalt therapists.  The Gestalt Institute is approved by the American Psychological Association to offer CONTINUING EDUCATION for psychologists.  Our WORKSHOPS include programs for professionals and the lay public in Gestalt topics and compatible approaches to human development.  The DROP-IN GROUP meets every Thursday open to anyone from the community.  For COMMUNITY OUTREACH some of our faculty and graduates offer free presentations to university classes, agencies and other groups in a wide range of Gestalt specialties and applications.
